There are dozens of wonderful knitting books on the market now -- all FULL of information, knowledge, new techniques, free patterns, etc! You can buy them at your local retail bookstore, or order knitting books online - you'll enjoy starting a library of knitting books for yourself. AND, if you are a professional knitter, knitting books are considered a business expense, so you can 'write them off' when you purchase them, too.
Another way to ensure that you'll get your supply of knitting books is to buy them at wholesale prices -- and then re-sell copies to other knitters.
Do you think you might like to sell knitting books? If so, do a search online for 'wholesale books' and see if you can find knitting books to buy from a wholesaler. Keep the ones you want for yourself -- after all, that's why you started this, right? :-)
Then, regardless of where you live, you can re-sell knitting books (at a marked-up price, of course!) to other knitters who may not be able to find those knitting books so easily.
You can reach your market of other knitters in several ways:
1. Make announcements to your local Guild, 'Stitch 'n' Bitch' group or knitting circle that you are now in the business of retailing knitting books, and let them know how they can purchase from you.
2. Let folks in your online knitting groups know! Put something about knitting books in your email signature line, and lead potential buyers to a website - which, of course, you'll have all set up to take orders for your knitting books. :-)
3. Include knitting books on your craft show or trade fair table.
4. Ask around at any local yarn shops if they would be interested in carrying your knitting books -- and find out how much commission they'll charge you. It's usually worth the rate to be able to reach dozens of other knitters that you might have trouble finding, otherwise.
Knitting books -- you'll be able to build your own library, AND make some cash, too!
